Highgate Junior School

Quinn London successfully delivered a comprehensive roof refurbishment and replacement programme at Highgate Junior School, enhancing the long-term performance, safety and sustainability of this historic educational estate while maintaining a fully operational school environment throughout the works.

The scheme involved the complete replacement of the existing roof system, including structural timber roof deck renewals, installation of high-performance waterproofing and insulation, and the replacement of rooflights with upgraded glazing to improve thermal efficiency and maximise natural daylight. Mechanical and electrical upgrades were undertaken alongside improvements to the building’s lightning protection system and photovoltaic (PV) installation, supporting the school’s long-term sustainability objectives.

Additional works included the installation of new fire barriers and passive fire protection measures, renewal of coping stones, parapets and roof edges, and the remediation of internal areas affected by historic water ingress, ensuring the building is protected for years to come.

Delivered within a live educational environment, the project required meticulous planning, specialist access solutions and carefully phased works to minimise disruption to pupils and staff. Through close collaboration with the school and all project stakeholders, Quinn London successfully completed the programme while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and operational continuity.
