RHUL - Fire Door Installation
CLIENT: Royal Holloway University of London
DATE: November 2019
We were contracted to install and replace FD30 communal fire doorsets and FD60 doorsets at the IT suite and the newly constructed electrical intake cupboard at Royal Holloway, University of London’s Computer Centre Annex.
We worked closely with the Estates Department to minimise any disruption to the University’s activities. All of the fire door replacements were programmed to be carried out during the summer holidays.
The scope of works included:
- Fire door survey
- Removal of old fire doorsets
- Installation of FD30 compartmentation fire doorsets
- Installation of FD60 compartmentation fire doorsets
- Asbestos removal
- Replacement of suspended ceilings
- Fire penetrations and compartmentation
The building refurbishment was undertaken to provide 3 large PC labs to accommodate 120 students and also house state of the art desktops for gaming development.
In addition to the FD30 and FD60 fire doors, we also installed high end door access and security. The FD60 doorset were installed to a 60 minute specified system which was built to house the new door sets. All door installations were observed by Warrington Fire (Exova) for competency and signoff.
"On behalf of the students and staff in the Department of Media Arts, I just wanted to say a huge thanks to you and your respective teams for the efforts you all made to bring the refurbishment of the new labs and their equipment and systems in on time for start of term. I appreciate this was an immense challenge to complete within the time available, but I believe the reactions of our Open Day visitors on Saturday and of our new and returning students this week have made the effort well worthwhile."
