UCLH Tunnel Enhancement
CLIENT: UCLH
VALUE: £520k
This project involved the design and installation of new replacement emergency lighting, installation of new fire doors, and smoke control measures.
Prior to starting the refurbishments works we completed fire, asbestos and water ingress surveys. This provided a detailed schedule of the works required, which we discussed in detail with the UCLH prior to sign off.
The refurbishment works at the patient transfer tunnel included the installation of suspended ceilings tiles, electrical installation including lighting and access control. We adapted the existing MEP services and design and installed new systems for CCTV, panic alarms, door access system and WiFi.
There was water ingress throughout the tunnel, so we completed various leak repairs and concrete repairs to areas of the ingress. This included the resurfacing of an external lightwell to stop water ingress.
Project Successes
Worked with the consultants in liaison with the UCLH hospital and Facilities Management team CBRE. Ensuring close stakeholder engagement throughout the delivery of the project.
We had to work around the UCLH phase 4 proton beam therapy project, which was being delivered at the same time as this project and in close proximity.
