Celebrating Another Successful Year with the EDT Cadet Programme
As we wrap up our second year partnering with the Engineering Development Trust (EDT) Bronze Cadet Programme, we’re proud to celebrate the impact our mentoring programme has made over the past 12 weeks.
Quinn London mentors have worked closely with Year 9 students from schools across Barnet and Islington, including Ark Pioneer Academy, Saracens High School, and Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School. Through a series of hands-on STEM and sustainability challenges linked to the built environment, students were guided in developing innovative solutions to some of today’s most pressing environmental and social issues.

At Ark Pioneer Academy in Barnet, students mentored by Joel Hall from our Social Value team explored urban greening in airport spaces. Their project focused on reducing environmental impact while improving wellbeing in these unique environments.
At Saracens High School, Lucy Couch and Jack Bowyer from our Property Services Division supported students as they tackled mental health challenges using emerging technologies including wearable devices and AI, to promote wellbeing and resilience.
Meanwhile, Carina Costa Hutchings and Hollie Charles from our Heritage and Central London Divisions worked with students at Islington’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School to explore how theme parks could embed more sustainability for the future and create solutions to reduce environmental impact and create greener, more sustainable visitor experiences.
As a result of these initiatives we’re proud to celebrate winning two awards at the end of the 12 week programme:
-
Project of the Year (Home Counties) – Ark Pioneer Academy
-
Project of the Year (London) – Saracens High School
A special congratulations also goes to Joel Hall, who was named Mentor of the Year for his continued commitment with both of his mentee schools achieving Project of the Year status under his guidance.
This programme continues to be a fantastic opportunity to bridge classroom learning with real world applications, to inspire young people to engage with STEM and sustainability in meaningful ways. We would like to share a massive thank you to all the teachers, support staff, and the EDT team for their commitment to making this a success.
