Oxford Thames Hotel

The project involved the Design and Build of an extension to the existing hotel. The Oxford Thames Hotel offers 4 star accommodation situated within a countryside setting and resides in a listed building.
The scheme was split into 2 phases, the first phase was to form a new car park area to replace carpark space lost due to the extension. The second phase of the works was to construct the new building, forming 20 new bedrooms and 5 treatment rooms.
QLL was responsible for developing the base design up to construction status, and to ensure the works were finished to a high standard. The structure was a traditional build with Strip foundations, Stonework façade with internal blockwork walls, precast ground and first floor slabs with a precast concrete staircase. The roof was constructed using timber roof trusses with preformed dormer windows, and slate tiles.
Internally the building was constructed with blockwork dividing walls with a plasterboard finish applied. Heating and cooling to the rooms was provided by ‘Fan Coil Units’, the corridor and circulation spaces have radiators that match the existing building. Two small internal plantrooms, were formed along with a small external plant space.
The external works consisted of soft and hard landscape works, with the creation of 51 new car park spaces. These were created using a system that creates a water attenuation system, a plastic cellular restraint system, consisting of layers of geotextile membranes and then was filled using a 20mm to 5mm stone.
The roads were constructed in Tarmac, new footpaths were formed in stone paving flags and then the areas surrounding our works received new turf and planting.
In addition we planted a large grassed area with wild plants, flowers and trees for visitors to enjoy.
