The challenge here was to bring a Grade II listed leisure centre into the 21st Century. The result was a remarkable blend of old and new: contemporary styling (such as glass structures, stainless steel and solar heating) within a protected building. The popular complex now provides the residents of Golden Lane Estate and those working within the Barbican area with a swimming pool, sprung-floor exercise studios, indoor badminton courts, a gym, a sports hall and more.
