Granton Primary School

Client: Lambeth Borough Council
Value: £2.8m
Date: August 2014

This project with Lambeth Council was a three phase design & build works. The aim of the project was to expand the size of the school with a new two story modular building, refurbish the interior and build a new façade for the front of the building across two storeys. The works were carried out in a live environment and were time constrained; logistically timings of delivery and stages of completion were imperative to ensuring the works finished on time.

The 1st phase comprised of the innovative construction of a modular building, this was factory made off site and then pieced together once the groundwork had been prepared. This type of build reduces the time spent on a job by 25% – 50% and also stops the possible traditional working environment  of a traditional site. On this job the main core structure was put together in 3 weeks. After this the roof was added and interior partitions and painting completed.

The 2nd phase was an extension to the front façade of the building to both 1st and 2nd floors. This provided greater internal space and a new external wall to completely revamp and modernise the building. The 3rd phase was the complete refurbishment of interiors behind the new façade including electrical, lighting and the fit out of new kitchens.
